I am Matthieu Moullec, a researcher in AI and philosophy at Cambridge and the Sorbonne.
I come from the west of Brittany, France.
Before returning to research, I spent several years working in industry, mainly in fintech and finance. That experience made me more interested in the deeper questions behind technical systems: how they shape culture, how they organise attention, and how they change the way people understand themselves.
My central project is to understand cognition across artificial and natural intelligence. I study how machines represent language and meaning, how minds organise experience, and how these questions connect to consciousness, culture, and self-understanding.
Alongside research, I write essays, literary fragments, and notes on philosophy, art, mathematics, personal structure, and the history of ideas. I am interested in work that connects technical clarity with lived meaning.
